Welcome to the

Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program

Getting Started

We’re glad you’ve made the decision to join us here, deepening your personal mindfulness practice while enhancing your ability to share mindfulness with others. We realize there’s a lot to navigate in the member’s dashboard. May this guide be a helpful tool for determining how to get started.

1. Familiarize yourself with the requirements for certification.

Start by becoming familiar with what is required to become a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher through our program. Read the Certification Requisites page in full, including the FAQ page.

2. Download the meditation log and start logging your formal mindfulness meditation practices.

You’ll discover that 40 hours of personal mindfulness meditation practice is required for certification. We recommend starting to log these sessions as soon as you enroll in the program and continuing until you reach a minimum of 40 logged hours.

3. Introduce yourself to the community.

Login to our Connect community and say hello! We’d love to get to know you. During your progression through the program, we also want to see you make five original posts in the discussion area corresponding with the 20 lessons in your Mindfulness Teaching Fundamentals Course workbook. Please also reply at least five times to another person’s post. Keep this in mind as you move through the material, sharing any questions or insights you have along the way.

4. Begin your journey through the two courses you need to complete.

Before you submit for certification, you’ll need to complete the Mindfulness Teaching Fundamentals Course and the How to Guide Mindfulness Meditation Course. The first course includes a comprehensive workbook plus 7 self-assessment forms, all which need to be completed by you for certification. The latter course does not have any homework associated with it.

You can take these courses one at a time or side-by-side. It’s entirely up to you. We recommend going through both courses prior to leading others in meditation, although some students enter into this program with teaching experience already. Create a pathway through the program that suits you, your comfort level, and your existing experience.

5. Join us on a live call if or when your schedule allows for it.

As you’re working through the program, we’d love for you to join us on a live call. We offer weekly Wednesday Q&A sessions, twice monthly Zoom calls for students to practice leading others, and once monthly guest teacher workshops. The links to join all of these calls are in the member’s dashboard.

Each of these calls are up to two hours in length. Some guest teacher workshops may run longer and some of the other calls may end prior to the two-hour mark, depending upon attendance.

You’re welcome to drop-in as your schedule permits, meaning that you don’t have to stay for the full two hours. The Wednesday Q&A sessions and guest teacher workshops are recorded for later viewing. You can find them here.

6. Once you feel ready, practice leading others in mindfulness meditation.

Another part of the certification requirements is to lead others through 7 different meditation types on 3 occasions each (for a total of 21 meditation sessions). You can find details pertaining to that here. Again, please refer to the full outline of certification requirements to discover more detailed instructions.

7. Record yourself teaching mindfulness meditation.

Recording the audio/video component of the certification requirements is often the last thing that people complete. Details about what we’re looking for in your recording can be found on the Certification Requisites page.

8. Explore the other resources and the teaching curriculum at your leisure.

Many people comment on just how many resources are offered – and it’s understandable if it all feels a bit overwhelming. Much of what we offer is for you to explore in your own time and isn’t part of the requirements for certification. Upon certifying, you will maintain access to the member’s dashboard for the lifetime of the program, so you can come back and pull from the resources as you need them.

If you signed up for the program with the brandable curriculum included in your registration, you can find a brief guide on how to use that curriculum here.

Our program is on-demand, self-paced, and flexible, and there’s no single ‘right way’ to move through it. These steps are suggestions for getting started, but you can tailor our suggestions to meet your needs and existing experience.
