Practicing mantra meditation

Recommended Posts

This is something I've been interested in exploring. When I was a catholic, I found the rosary to be something that appealed to me. The repetitive prayer enabled my mind to somewhat disengage and and there was more of a deeper level conscious focus on each mystery. I've been curious about mantra meditations for the same reason. I have a couple of malas that I use and have recently started doing a daily gratitude mantra. I found this: https://healingbrave.com/blogs/all/sanskrit-mantras-for-meditation-gratitude and go through each of them, using the English rather than Sanskrit. Don't know if that's a formal way of doing it, it seems to be working for me. I'd be interested in exploring others forms.

Great resource! I find mantra repetition really grounding as well. Formal or not, if it works it works 🙂

When I studied Hatha yoga, we had Kirtan every Friday. Prior to that I was more or less unfamiliar with chanting (I had done a workshop on it once many years prior). But in any case, I felt that when surrendered to, the practice was incredibly powerful. I'll share a link to the yoga school I studied with. They hold online Kirtan now on Fridays - https://www.facebook.com/LoveEvolveAwaken/

I also really love the music of Krishna Das. I'll often play it in the background while cooking.
